Udupi: Submit report on condition of school buildings in district – Panchayat CEO

Udupi, Aug 14: District panchayat CEO Sindhu B Roopesh has asked to submit a report on the condition of the buildings of all the Anganwadis, primary schools and high school. She was speaking in KDP meeting for July held in district panchayat auditorium on Wednesday and chaired by district panchayat president Dinakar Babu.

CEO who received information from education department officials of damages to nine school buildings in the current rains asked for a report from panchayat raj engineering department including details of children who have given up schooling.

President Dinakar Babu dissatisfied by slow pace of constructing Alevoor gram panchayat building asked sternly officials to resume work.

“Fifty five crores of loan of 20300 fishermen borrowed from nationalized bank at 2% interest under Meenugaara Sala Manna Yojane is waived. A proposal is submitted to the government requesting for compensation to Kaze fishermen under ‘Sankasta Parihaara Yojane’,” said deputy director of the department of fisheries Parshwanath.

“Antibiotics for Malaria, ORS, Ambulance service and other emergency services will be provided,” said Dr Rama Rao.

“1167 hectare Paddy is inundated in the rain during the last one week. 263 Hectare paddy is damaged. Agriculture department officials and revenue department are jointly assessing the damage. Compensation is paid for more than 33% damage. It is intended to distribute 2,330 quintal paddy seeds and 2,100 quintal is already distributed,” said official of the department of agriculture, Sathish.

“Farm produce on 6.2 hectares is destroyed in current rains,” said horticulture department deputy director Bhuvaneshwari. The president asked labour department to visit various businesses in the district and review measures taken for the safety of workers.

District panchayat vice president Sheela K Shetty, social justice committee president Shashikanth Padubidri, education and health committee president Babu Shetty, agriculture and industrial standing committee president Udaya S Kotian, chief project officer Srinivas Rao and Zilla panchayat project director Madhukumar were present.
