Udupi: MLA Raghupathi Bhat requests CM to help waive GST on fishmeal

Udupi, Aug 14: MLA K Raghupathi Bhat met chief minister B S Yediyurappa in Bengaluru today and requested the CM to write to finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman requesting her to waive GST imposed on fishmeal.

The chief minister who responded immediately, called finance department secretary asking to prepare a letter to Nirmala Sitaramana to table at GST council. He has got the letter prepared immediately and submitted it to the finance minister.

The finance minister had suggested submitting to GST council a letter through the chief minister when the delegation of fishermen met Nirmala Sitharaman in Delhi in the presence of Yediyurappa. Therefore, Udupi MLA met the chief minister without delay and the chief minister acted on the request immediately.

MLA K Raghupathi Bhat was accompanied by Bhatkal MLA Sunil Naik and fishermen leader Nadoja G Shanker.
