Kaup, Aug 14: Kaup police who succeeded in unearthing an incident of cow slaughter that was going on in an under-construction house at Pakeeranakatte in Mallaru village here, arrested three persons. This incident happened on Tuesday August 13 morning.
The arrested accused happen to be Basheer Ahmed (54) from Mallaru Pakeeranakatte, his son, Yasir (21), and Mustaf (27), residing near Urdu school at Pakeeranakatte.
The three had slaughtered a cow in the hall of the said house and were preparing to prepare beef when a police team led by assistant sub-inspector Dayanand, operating on the basis of information received by Kaup police sub-inspector, Jaya K, raided the spot and arrested the above three persons found there.
During the raid, the police found the carcass of a cow that had been slaughtered and skinned just then. They also took into custody a tarpaulin, hatchets, wooden log and other things worth thousands of rupees from the spot.
The arrested men have been booked under Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Investigation is progressing.
