Udupi: Ministry expansion - Kota says rehabilitation of flood victims more important

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Aug 14: Former leader of the opposition in the legislative council Kota Srinivas Poojary, expressed the opinion that protection and rehabilitation of flood affected people is more important than expansion of the state ministry.

Poojary was reacting to the demand made by Congress leader Ugrappa, who has been arguing that any government which does not form ministry within eight days since coming to power has no right to stay in power as per the Constitution. Ugrappa had also urged the governor to dismiss the current government on this issue.

"The coalition government in the state had taken 14 days to form the ministry. I want to know from Ugrappa why the eight-day rule was not applied then. 50,000 houses in the state have crashed to the ground due to excessive rains and flood. The chief minister and MLAs have rushed to help the victims. Under these circumstances, leaders should work for the benefit of the flood-affected people without bringing party politics into play. Passing adverse comments just for the sake of criticism is not right under the current circumstances," he retorted.
