Udupi: Land acquisition process for NH169A Thirthahalli-Kadiyali section cancelled

Udupi, Aug 14: Land acquisition officials of National Highways Authority of India, engineers of the department, PWD engineers along with municipal councillors conducted spot inspection of land for the proposed widening of the road, which is a part of the above national highway. The inspection of the road and land was taken up from Udupi till Parkala in connection with the proposal to widen the road, and also the team lent an ear to grievances and objections from the residents as well as those who are likely to lose their land at a meeting held in the morning.

It was decided in the meeting on Tuesday to drop the notification in relation to the proposed widening of the road from Udupi to Kadiyali by 30 meters and to maintain it at the current width of 80 feet. It was decided to proceed with land acquisition as per national highway plan and widen the road at Narayanaguru Junction, City bus stand and Kalsanka Junction, to give up plans for land acquisition from Udupi to Kadiyali except for the development of the said junctions.

Other decisions taken at the meeting were conversion of one and a half metres of land for the road from Parkala high school to market, development of road only where government land is available, acquisition and development of road from Parkala market to Ocean Pearl as per the current plan of 30 metres.

MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, who was personally present, provided his opinions, guidance and suggestions on these issues. Municipal councillors, Prabhakar Poojary, Balakrishna Shetty Kakkunje, Ashok Naika, Girish Anchan, Manjunath Manipal, Sumitra Nayak, Kalpana Sudhama, Vijayalakshmi, Sunder Kalmady, Harish Ram Bannaje, Prashanth Sanil, Arvind Shetty, Roshan Shetty and others were present.
