Kundapur, Aug 14: Indira, the elephant of the renowned Kollur Mookambika temple passed away on Tuesday, August 13. It was 62-years-old.
The elephant was suffering from fever for the past 20 days. It is said that the Mahout Babanna did not take much care of the elephant, though it was unwell.
The locals and devotees have expressed rage against the administrative committee of the temple also for neglecting Indira, who had served the temple for 22 long years.
Indira was donated to the temple by a timber merchant, a devotee of Shri Mookambika. The elephant was brought to the temple from Balehonnur.
