Madikeri: Three held for allegedly circulating fake currency notes

Madikeri, Aug 13: Samshad (25), and Wajid (23) from Betoli in Virajpet taluk in Kodagu district, and Abdul Rashid (26) from Vidyanagar, Virajpet, were arrested by the police on Monday, August 12.

The trio had hired a room in Prashanth Lodge, Hunsur. They had handed over a currency note with face value of Rs 2,000 to Harish Mudappa, manager of the lodge. Harish, who found that the note was not genuine, developed suspicion and complained to the police.

Deputy superintendent of police Sundar Raj, circle inspector Poovayya and sub-inspector, Mahesh G E, along with other staff members arrived at the lodge, questioned the accused and took them into custody. They found 11 fake currency notes of Rs 2,000 face value from their possession.
