Udpi, Aug12: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Kallianpur deanery level youth convention 'Yuva Samagam 2019' was held on Sunday August 11 at Holy Family Church, Brahmavar.
The deanery-level programme comprised of an inaugural ceremony, followed by a session on Small Christian Communities (SCC) and its methodology.
The programme was inaugurated by opening pingaras (arecanut flowers) by chief guest Fr Victor Fernandes, parish priest, Holy Family Church, Brahmavar and Fr Vincent Crasta. Other dignitaries on the dais were Ravi Prakash Gonsalves, Joel D’Almeida, Celestine D’Almeida, parish pastoral committee members, Venrold Lewis, Melrica Fernandes president and secretary, ICYM Kallianpur deanery. Rolwin Lobo and Roshni D’Souza, president and secretary, ICYM Brahmavar unit.
Fr Vincent Robert Crasta, secretary of Catholic Educational Society of Udupi diocese was the resource person of the event.
Fr Edwin D'Souza, director, ICYM Udupi diocese addressed the gathering on 'National Youth Sunday' and congratulated everyone for coming in huge number.
Thereafter, a eucharistic celebration was held for the youth.
Post lunch, six ICYM units presented a cultural programme.
The valedictory function was presided over by Fr Leslie D’Souza, ICYM director of Kallianpur unit. Other dignitaries on the dais were Fr Victor Fernandes parish priest, Holy Family Church, Brahmavar, Dion D’Souza president, ICYM Udupi diocese. Venrold Lewis and Melrica Fernandes, Rolwin Lobo, Roshni D’Souza were present on the occasion.
Three members of different units of Kallianpur deanery shared their opinion about the programme.
ICYM Kemmannu unit emerged winners of the cultural programme followed by Kolalgiri unit and Sasthan unit being the first and second runners up. Dion D’Souza, president, ICYM Udupi diocese announced the winners.
Rolwin Lobo welcomed the gathering while Roshni D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks.
