Bengaluru, Aug 10: Even as BJP leaders have been claiming that removal of article 370 of the constitution is a glorious tribute to the sacrifices of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, a national level leader who advocated pro-Hindu ideals, former union minister, M Veerappa Moily, claimed that there is documentary proof to suggest that Mukherjee, founder of Jan Sangh, had supported inclusion of article 370 in the Indian Constitution.

Speaking at the 77th Quit India Movement's anniversary at the office of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) here on Friday August 9, Moily expressed the view that the union government has misled the people by removing circle 370. He said that Kashmir is already an integral part of India and accused BJP for projecting Narendra Modi as a god incarnate.

He reminded the people that Congress was the one which built Almatti dam and his party was the one which instituted ISRO, IIT IIM etc. He charged the BJP of projecting all the achievements of the Congress party as its own. He expressed apprehension that the party's future will be bleak if the workers do not educate the people about the development projects and contributions made by the Congress party to India and its development.

Moily said that BJP leaders are not interested in Indian history, as that party took birth much after independence. "Narendra Modi did not do anything for the country during the last five years. He has projected as if he is the saviour of the country," he charged.

KPCC president, Dinesh Gundu Rao, accused pro-Hindu organizations of supporting the British and that its leaders including Shyama Prasad Mukherjee of opposing Quit India Movement.
