Mangaluru, Aug 10: Blood Helpline Karnataka held a two day long blood donation expo 2019 on its third anniversary at Fiza mall on August 3.
SSF Karnataka state vice president Hafiz Sakhafi, Milagres church parish priest Fr Anil Francis Pinto and Polali Ramakrishna Tapovana’s Vivek Chaitanyananda Swamy inaugurated the programme.
Kumbra Karnataka Islamic Academy professor Anil Kausari released a booklet with complete details of Helpline Karnataka. Wenlock Hospital blood bank’s Dr Sukesh Kottari, Kanachur Hospital blood bank official Venkatesh Raj Rai, Red Cross Society’s Pravin Kumar and A J Hospital’s P R Gopalakrishna enlightened the gathering on blood donation. Yenepoya Hospital’s camp organizer Abdul Razak, social activist Munir Bava and others were present. National award winner Tansif B M Killur performed a quiz on blood and health.
A small film ‘Badalavane Nammindale’ directed by Naushad Classic on the importance of blood donation was shown. A seminar, drawing competition and quiz were held for children.
35 people donated blood on the first day. Wenlcok Hospital doctors and staff helped to collect blood. Imran Addoor welcomed everyone while Ashraf Kalladka compered the first day’s programme.
The second day's Expo 2019 on August 4 was also held at Forum Fiza mall.
Mangaluru health inspector Ayisha P and K S Hegde Hospital assistant medical officer Dr Laxmi Das held a discussion forum to create awareness on blood donation among women. Drawing competitions were held for children in three groups. Campus Front of India students performed ‘drug the killer’ drama and showed a short film. 42 units of blood was collected from donors on second day with the help of Thejaswini Hospital doctors and staff.
