Panaji, Aug 10: The Goa government on August 22 will e-auction a whopping 5.34 million tonnes of iron ore lying in jetties and plots.

Mining in Goa had come to a standstill after the Supreme Court order quashing second renewal of 88 mining leases. Since then the state government is trying to restart mining.

The apex court in its 2012 judgement, had declared mining after 2007 illegal. Iron ore that was lying at jetties and plots were declared as state government property. The government then, had identified 15 million tonne ore lying at jetties and plots out of which 10 million tonnes have been e-auctioned.
