Mangaluru: YCS-Spandana Minority Scholarship Helpdesk inaugurated

Mangaluru, Aug 7: The YCS- Spandana Minority Scholarship Helpdesk 2019, an initiative of Young Catholic Students (YCS) and Young Students’ Movement (YSM) of Mangaluru Diocese, in association with Spandana Trust (R) of Charity Sisters was inaugurated by the vicar general of Mangaluru diocese, Msgr Maxim Noronha at Infant Mary Campus, Jeppu on Tuesday, August 6.

After the blessing and prayer, the inauguration was done by opening the scholarship website.

Msgr Noronha appreciated the initiative and said that by giving and receiving we show our belongingness to each other. He gave a call to all the students to make use of the facility that is given free of cost.

Sr Marceline Braggs, animator at Infant Mary Campus Jeppu, Lanwin Lobo Urwa, CompuNet Systems proprietor Alphonse D’Souza, who guided and supported the helpdesk wholeheartedly, took part in the programme as guests of honour.

Roy Castelino Kulshekar, who have given financial assistance and Sr Dorothy who guides the students, were not present during the programme due to inevitable reasons.

Fr Rupesh Madtha, the director, YCS/YSM Mangaluru, organizes this Help Desk every year in order to facilitate the students to avail government benefits.YCS/YSM diocesan animator Prajwal Sequeira Derebail compered the programme and diocesan coordinator Mervin Vas Ferar looked after the arrangements. Spandana Trust manager Victor Vas welcomed the guests and Suhani Crasta Fermai rendered the vote of thanks. The guests were presented with mementos.

Helping students to apply for scholarship

The government minority scholarship helpdesk helps students from minority communities to upload scholarship applications. It will be open from August to October from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm in the week days except on Sundays at Infant Mary Campus in Jeppu, Mangaluru.

The helpdesk has served 1,600 students free of cost in the last two academic years.

Students who want to apply for the scholarship need to come equipped with documents such as Aadhar card, fee receipt from the college, bank passbook copy, income/caste certificate, previous year’s marks card and two photographs.

In case of renewal of scholarship, personal ID and password of previous year upload is needed.
