Kaup, Aug 7: A man who had slept in a room after consuming liquor was found dead in his sleep at Katapadi near here. The incident occurred on Monday August 5.
The deceased has been identified as Shivaraj (32) from Pakeeranakatte in Mallar. He was engaged in painting work. He was addicted to liquor and was worried as he did not have regular work on hand.
He had visited his parental home at Katapadii on August 3. On August 5, he reached home fully drunk, bolted a room door from inside, and slept. At 4 pm, his father knocked at the door of his room to wake up his son, but there was no response. When he peeped through the window, he found Shivaraj lying straight on the cot.
Worried, his father broke open the room door and went inside. But there was no response from his son. A local doctor was called. He checked Shivaraj and found him dead, said Harshan, brother of Shivaraj, in a complaint filed with Kaup police.
Kaup police have been investigating the case.
