Mumbai, Jun 15: The meeting of the state managing committee of the Special Fund for Ex-servicemen was held on Saturday June 13 at Raj Bhavan here, to review the progress of various welfare schemes for ex-servicemen and their families. It was chaired by Governor S C Jamir.
The meeting approved the commissioning of a rest house for ex-servicemen constructed at Thane and the commissioning of the military girls’ hostel at Kalina here during September. The Kalina hostel for military girls has a capacity to accommodate 72 students.
The meeting took an important decision to revise the charges for rest house accommodation all over the state in order to make hostels and rest houses financially self-sufficient.
General administration principal secretary T F Thekkekara, Maharastra, Gujarat and Goa area general commanding officer Major General R K Hooda, Major General A B Sayyad (retired), Pune south zone resettlement director Brigadier J P Anklesaria, Sainik Welfare department director Colonel Suhas S Jatkar (retired), Rear Admiral P K Chatterjee, Air Vice Marshal R G Burli, New Delhi director general of resettlement Major General S G Chatterjee, New Delhi Kendriya Sainik Board secretary Brigadier Sudhir Uppal, and other members of the State Managing Committee were present on the occasion.
