Udupi, Aug 6: "All the legislators from the district would be happy and will welcome if any among them is picked as minister by the chief minister. We will wholeheartedly support the party's decision in this matter. I am also prepared if I am asked to discharge responsibility as minister," said MLC, Kota Srinivas Poojary.
Speaking to media persons on Monday August 5, he said that he and five legislators from the district will together successfully implement projects of the central and state governments, and asked the people to rest assured on this aspect.
Poojary said that sand extraction from rivers will begin within a week by relaxing certain rules as BJP MLAs from the coast had met the chief minister and impressed on him to relax the rues. We will make sure that poor labourers do not face harassment by way of cases on this front," he asserted.
He said that loan amounting to Rs 60 crore in the name of 24,000 fishermen was waived now. He added that the legislators together will apprise the chief minister of the need to waive loans of fishermen who availed loans through cooperative societies.
"When I was the minister, a project of permanent protective wall on the seashore from Ullal to Karwar costing Rs 900 crore under NABARD had been approved. After the project went for tendering stage initially for Rs 28 crore, the work was suspended because of some problem. During our term int the office, we will try to provide permanent solution for the sea erosion," he said.
About former chief minister Siddaramaiah's tweet about the delay in ministry formation, he recollected that when the coalition government was formed, the ministry was formed after 14 days since Kumaraswamy became chief minister. He said that then, district in-charge ministers were appointed after a month. "Our ministry will be formed before that," he asserted.
