Mangaluru, Aug 6: District BJP celebrated the government's decision to scrap Article 370 and 35A of the Constitution which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.The state will be split into two Union Territories Jammu and Kashmir with an Assembly and Ladakh without one.
Speaking on the occasion, former MLA Yogesh Bhat said, “This is a historic decision taken by the central government. There should not be two flags or two prime ministers. Hence, decision has been taken and now all are one. Modi and Shah have given the right answer to everyone who was favouring the scrapped Article.”
BJP leaders burst crackers and distributed sweets.
Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Y Shetty, former MLC Monappa Bhandary and others were present.
Even Vishwa Hindu Parishad celebrated at Mallikatte circle.
