Beltangady, Aug 5: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Venur in collaboration with Catholic Sabha Venur celebrated Vanamahotsava on the theme 'Plant one tree save 10 lives' at Christ King church Venur on Sunday, August 4.
Addressing the gathering, forest officer Venur zone Prashant Kumar Pai said, "We should live and we must let others live too which is only possible through growing plants and saving nature."
Fr Peter Aranha, parish priest, presided over the programme. Fr Victor pais, principal Hoovinahadagali College, Ballari, L J Fernandes, administration officer, Alva's Education Foundation, Arun Crasta, vice president, gram panchayat Venur, Ronald D'Souza, parish pastoral committee vice president, Steven D'Cunha, parish pastoral committee secretary, Edward Rego, president Catholic Sabha, Sr Wilma D'Sa and Arun D'Souza, ICYM animators, Ninet Moras, ICYM president, Anisha Lasrado, ICYM secretary and other members of ICYM and Catholic Sabha were also present at the programme.
The youth and members of Catholic Sabha planted saplings on the occasion of vanamahotsava and promised to save nature.
Stevan D'Cunha welcomed the gathering and Anup Pais thanked the gathering while Ronson Tellis compered the programme.
