Udupi, Aug 5: Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra (R) (CKSK) with the support of Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) organised Suvidya- 2019- Interest free loan for the poor Catholic youth of the diocese here.
The programme began with a prayer led by Emilda, Education coordinator of CKSK.
Fr Rohan Lobo in his introductory talk explained in detail about the various programmes of CKSK and number of children, youth and women who received benefits from the schemes.
Suvidya 2019 was inaugurated symbolically by sticking various educational quotes on the board by the dignitaries on the dais namely, the vice president of KCWA Michael Pinto, director of CKSK, Fr Vinod Mascarenhas, assit director Fr Rohan Lobo, parents of youth and beneficiaries of Suvidya – 2019.
After formally inaugurating the programme, Michael spoke in gist about the purpose of Suvidya, interest free loan for the rural Catholic youth. It is mainly meant for those who financially find it hard to continue their higher education. This scheme is just one year old, but we are happy that last year we reached out to 21 poor youths for their higher education. Some of them have completed and some are continuing their education. He applauded the organization CKSK for implementing this scheme successfully and reaching out to a good number of youth in the diocese.
Fr Vinod Mascarenhas after releasing Suvidya 2019, a booklet containing success stories of rural poor youth handed the copies over to the vice president of KCWA. He requested the beneficiaries to make good of this scheme by studying hard and coming out successfully. He thanked KCWA association for their wholehearted support toward the poor youth. It is a golden opportunity for the youth to continue their higher education and better their future. There were 25 applicants who applied for Suvidya 2019 interest free loan. Poornima compered the programme. Emilda delivered the vote of thanks.
