“Democracy based on culture in our country is strong. We cannot see it in other countries. There were 3,300 newspapers in the country prior to independence and sixty thousand newspapers in 100 languages are being published at present. It announces the greatness of the country. News, analysis, reviews and entertainment based on advertisements is gaining importance. Journalism which was in the form of service has grown as industry. It is obvious,” he said.

Former minister Jayaprakash Hegde who presided over the programme said that truth has changed in media. “Media will live if only truth is published without looking at opinions.”
