Beltangady, Jun 12: Two youths drowned and lost their lives at the Netravati bathing bay of Dharmasthala on Thursday June 11. Pilgrims Ravi (22) and Shivakumar (22), both from Bangarpet, KGF, Kolar met the watery grave.
Both of them had arrived at Dharmasthala on Wednesday night and stayed at the temple choultry. After offering their hair to the temple in the morning of Thursday, they arrived at the river to have bath. Both of them ventured into the war beyond the vented dam and were sucked in by the whirlpool.
Even though those accompanying them and the security staff employed by the temple tried to save them, they had breathed their last before they could be rescued. Beltangady police personnel visited the spot and registered a case. The bodies were handed over to their relatives after conducting post mortem examination.
