Bantwal, Aug 2: A jeweller was arrested from Kakyapadavu in the taluk by the police on Thursday August 1 on the allegation that he had sexually harassed a minor girl. The arrested accused happens to be Yogeesh Acharya (35), who works as jeweller at Kakyapadavu.

Reportedly the girl had visited the shop of Acharya on Wednesday evening. On this occasion, taking advantage of the opportunity, the jeweller had reportedly sexually assaulted the girl. She then went home, sobbing. The family members who questioned her, came to know about the despicable behaviour of Yogeesh Acharya.

The mother of the girl filed police complaint in Punjalkatte station on Thursday. The girl was sent to a hospital at Mangaluru for medical tests. A case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been registered in Punjalkatte police station, the police said.
