Udupi: Suicide attempt by surveyor - Complaint filed against officer, employee

Udupi, Aug 2: Padmavathi, wife of Ashok Byrawadagi, surveyor working in the survey office at Brahmavar, has filed complaint in the police station at Brahmavar.

Ashok Byarawadagi had attempted to end his own life recently. Padmavathi has accused officer of the said office, Manjunath, and a staff member, Subrahmanya, of harassing her husband during the office hours as a result of which he was frustrated and decided to commit suicide.

Ashok has been working in the land survey office at Brahmavar since the last about nine years. On July 20, he left for office but returned home soon. When questioned, he told his wife that he had been transferred from the records section to repairs section. This had cause lot of distress in him, she said.

On July 24, Ashok left home for work at 9 am but went missing thereafter. H was found to have consumed poison at Ajjarkad Park in Uduupi onJuly 28 with the intention of ending life. A social worker had arranged to admit him into the district government hospital. Thereafter he was shifted to a hospital at Manipal.

A case stands registered in Udupi town police station on the basis of the said complaint.
