Swine Flu Patient in Goa

Goa health authorities today confirmed that one amongst the two passengers isolated at state’s facilities is having swine flu.
 
“The passenger who traveled from London to Goa via Germany is confirmed patient of swine flu while we are checking the samples of second passenger who arrived in Goa from Sharjah this morning,” state health secretary Sanjiv Srivastava said.
 
While confirmed patient is isolated at Primary health centre, Chicalim few kilometers away from the state airport, the swine flu suspect lady has been isolated at state run Goa Medical College and hospital near here.
 
Health officials stated that the initial tests conducted in the state have confirmed that the passenger who arrived from London last night is suffering from swine flu. He is a resident of Margao, a town 30 kms away from the capital city of Panaji.
 
Goa health officials today sent the blood samples of both the patients to National institute of  virology at Pune for further tests.
 
Director of health service Dr Rajananda Desai said that the state government will issue formal statement and details of the patients by evening.
 
After the swine flu scarce across the globe, the state health department had commissioned a team of doctors at Goa airport to scan all the passengers arriving from abroad.
 
These two patients were traced during the screening and immediately referred to the quarantine facilities of the state health services.
