State Innovation Council receives 179 ideas on its Virtual Innovation Register

Porvorim, Jul 31: State government’s Goa State Innovation Council (GSIC) has registered more than 170 path breaking start up ideas since its conception, the House was told on Wednesday.

The annual report of GSIC, which was tabled during ongoing legislative assembly session, has mentioned that Virtual Innovation Register (VIR) has successfully registered several path-breaking start-up ideas.

“Out of the total 179 ideas registered on VIR. Total 37 were from established start-ups and 142 were new ideas,” the report mentions.

“These figures suggests the potential of entrepreneurship in Goa, and is also reflection of the VIR’s success in reaching out to the people and tapping ideas,” it adds.

The annual report mentions that VIR is a unique initiative by GSIC to harvest potential ideas and innovation without any hassle or fuss.

“It (VIR) is an online platform where innovators and entrepreneurs can register their ideas virtually and source the required support to achieve the expected results,” it reads.

“The VIR will also function as an innovation souk where young innovators will display prototypes and directly talk to prospective buyers,” the report adds.

The report also states that VIR has been identified as one of the most significant tool to rope in game-changing entrepreneurial ideas from about anyone in the state.”

The GSIC has said that once registered under VIR, the entrepreneur gets collaboration with mentors and experts and also support is given to raise funds for the project.
