London, Jun 10: Indian opener Virender Sehwag has been ruled out of the World Twenty20 cricket due to a shoulder injury and will return home after consulting medical experts in England.
The national selection committee has been asked to find a replacement for Sehwag, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement.
"The BCCI will be sending a replacement in accordance with the International Cricket Council's (ICC) guidelines," BCCI said.
Sehwag did not play in any of the two warm-up matches and the first league game against Bangladesh.
The opener was carrying the shoulder injury for long as he had missed quite a few Indian Premier League (IPL) matches as well.
