Mangaluru: Rain causes sea erosion at Kulai

Mangaluru, Jul 30: Dakshina Kannada district received good rainfall on Monday but there was no appreciable increase in the quantum of rainfall. After a gap since afternoon, the rain appeared again in the evening.

Although the rainfall was not heavy, sea erosion was witnessed at Kulai near Suratkal. Sea has been consuming the seashore.

Till Monday morning, Beltangady recorded 24.5 mm rainfall which was the highest. Bantwal got 16.6 mm rain, Mangaluru 8.9 mm, Puttur 18.2 mm and Sullia 13.1 mm.

The water level of Netravati and Kumaradhara confluence at Uppinangady stood at 13 metres whereas River Netravati is flowing at 5.6 metres at Bantwal.
