Bantwal, Jun 9: The news that the western range inspector general of police Gopal B Hosur has made a firm resolve to initiate lasting measures to find a permanent solution to the frequent communal disturbances and frictions taking places in the twin-districts for flimsy reasons, has sent shivers down the spines of mischief-mongers who used to get satisfaction by fomenting trouble and then enjoying the aftermath from a distance. It is learnt, that the policemen, after an elaborate exercise, have prepared a list of 110 communal elements from within Bantwal town police limits and 140 more from the rural police station limits.
Out of them, two Hinduist bullies and eight Muslims were summoned to the police station to prepare elaborate files on them including photographs, videography, thumb impressions etc. Besides, their passport numbers are being sent to Bangalore and New Delhi to ensure that they do not flee the country after inciting trouble here.
A team formed under the guidance of superintendent of police Dr A Subrhamanyeshwar Rao, led by Puttur assistant superintendent of police Chandragupta has been on the job since the last three days. Circle inspector K Nanjunde Gowda said that the department has been contemplating actions like registering of cases against a few of them under the Goonda Act, seeking their externment etc.
At the same time, the businessmen, general public and the policemen who were facing the risk of being transferred on one pretext or the other, hope that the above actions will ensure peace and stability and give them some peace of mind. It is learnt, the list includes names of people from the town, in addition to Farangipet, Maripalla, Amemar, Nettarakere, Shanti Angadi, Goodinabali and Kalladka.
