Udupi, Jul 29: “It is really sad that, due to the invasion of Western food practice, our traditional and ancestral food habits are getting extinct. That is why we need awareness programmes on indigenous food habits. In our indigenous food dishes plants, roots and leaves play an important role. Every disease can be cured by consuming he plant related to that. Plant-based food helps us to maintain balance of our health,” said Dr Rajesh Bayari, who participated as the chief guest at the seventh Sasyamritha programme organized by the Gurukula Public school.
Speaking on the occasion, founder of the school, Basrur Appanna Hegde said, “We can mainatain our health by opting for a vergetarian diet. In addition, we can help in growing the plant world.”
Anupama S Shetty, co-convener of Bandya educational institute, did the introductory speech and welcomed the gathering.
32 types of vegetarian dishes made of plants were served to the guests and the parents of the students of the school at the end of the programme.
