Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh hold seminar on effects of drug addiction

Mangaluru, Jul 29: The seminar on ‘Effects of Drug Addiction’ was held in St Sebastian PU College auditorium on Sunday, July 28.

Fr J B Saldanha, parish priest was the chief guest of the programme. The other guests present were Lydia Lobo, administrator of LINK De-addition and Counselling Centre Mangaluru, Ganesh Mulki Nayak social worker, Melvin C D’Souza, vice president, Parish Pastoral Council and Ronald Fernandez, secretary, Parish Pastoral Council, heads of the Educational Institutions Sr Anitha and Cyril, Ronald Serrao, convener of the programme, Naveen Brags, secretary, Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh (R), Dolphy D Souza, president and Naveen Felix D’Souza, secretary of Permannur unit and all the presidents of Catholic Sabha Mangaluru South Deanery.



The programme began with a prayer dance by students of St Sebastian English Medium School, Permannur and welcome dance by the students of Holy Angels School, Permannur. Felix D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Rolphy D’Souza introduced the topic of the seminar to the gathering followed by short inaugural ceremony by the guests of the day. The chief guest Fr J B Saldanha addressed the gathering. In his speech father cautioned the parents to spend more time with their wards, thus preventing them from falling prey to any form of addiction. Ganesh Mulki was then honoured for his selfless service to the society. Naveen Felix D’Souza rendered the vote of thanks. As mementos, saplings were awarded to all the guests. Joslyn Dsouza compered the programme.

Resource persons of the day Lydia Lobo and Ganesh Mulki delivered thought-provoking speeches on the topic ill-effects of drug addictions. A meaningful and inspiring skit was enacted by the members of ICYM and YCS Unit, Ammebal.

Nearly 500 students, youth and parents attended the programme.
