Mangaluru, Jul 29: 'Ephphatha', Centre of Child Development & Hearing Clinic was inaugurated recently by Meera Suresh, headmistress Spandana Lions Special School Surathkal and blessed by Fr Paul Pinto, parish priest Sacred Heart Church, Surathkal. The centre is situated at Acropolis Complex, opposite post office, Surathkal.
The centre is coordinated by Rayaton D'Souza, certified speech language pathologist and audiologist & Elenora Dehnugar, Remedial Trainer. The centre is a branch of Ephphatha Centre of Development, based at Nanthoor managed and sponsored by Ephphatha Educational & Charitable Trust.
Ephphatha was established in the year 2013 in the heart of city Nanthoor with a motto and vision to train the children and make them ready at their tiny age to overcome their developmental delays mainly like speech and language, behaviour, physical and emotional development and academic skills like reading, writing and mathematics.
Ephphatha has also reached in the field of Montessori education for delayed children and have started with teacher training courses on Montessori & Early Childhood Education and has successful completed six years of services.
In order to provide the services in wide range and for the people to get convenient Ephphatha has initiated to start the rehabilitative services in Surathkal along with audiological services like pure tone audiometry, tympanometry, new born hearing screening and hearing aids.
Centre also provides facilities of Speech & Language therapy, behavioural modification management, remedial training, training for Autism and learning disability/slow learners.
