Bengaluru, Jul 29: State BJP spokesperson, Go Madhusudan, accused the assembly speaker of taking hasty decision to disqualify 17 legislators because of political considerations. He charged the speaker with violation of norms of natural justice and Supreme Court instructions. He questioned the speaker for his action of announcing his decision on a holiday without waiting till Monday.

He specifically mentioned the case of Shrimant Patil where he said evidently the speaker had not properly investigated the case and came out with verdict that is inhuman. Former minister and BJP leader, Govind Karjol, said that the speaker was under political influence in delivering this decision, adding that the affected legislators would be knocking at the doors of the Supreme Court.

MLA, S R Vishwanth, said that the resignation letters of the legislators are in order and said it is clear that the speaker disqualified them with the lone intention of disposing off their cases. He said that there is hope that the courts will do justice to the legislators. MLA, A S Patil Nadahalli, also said that the speaker's decision is against constitutional provisions and that the decision was taken in a hurry.
