Udupi, Jun 8: Girls Islamic Organization general secretary Khateeja Huda opined that the practice of branding the incidents like performing puja of Lord Ganapati by a Muslim or participation in Namaaz by a Hindu as cases of religious harmony is wrong. The achievements that are made by violating the religious tenets should not be treated as achievements at all, she asserted. She was speaking at the 'talent reward and scholarship distribution function' organized by the Students Islamic Organization (SIO) on Sunday June 7 at Jaffer Towers Kaup in the district.
SIO state president Shaukat Ali in his address, stressed on the need to set up college campuses where human values and message of humanity get advocated. He condemned the efforts being presently made to commercialize education.
HRS Karnataka-Goa state secretary Akbar Ali presided. Moodbidri Alva's College M Ed college principal Vasant Kumar and district Wakf Board former president Lutfulla Kaup addressed the participants. Udupi Abco Steels manager Hidayatullah Kazi and SIO regional president Shabbir Mangalore were at the dais.
Students Suhail Anwar and Mohammed Numan, who scored high in the science section of the PU final examination apart from Shahnaz and Ruman, who secured the first and second positions in the examination conducted by the Islamic Board of Education were felicitated.
