Mangaluru: CODP to organise mosquito borne disease awareness on Jul 25, 26

Mangaluru, Jul 26: As per a call given by the district administration and Mangaluru City Corporation to all the NGOs to render their services in creating awareness and conducting house visits, CODP® Mangaluru with its self help groups and St Aloysius College MSW department, here have joined hands to create awareness on monquito-borne diseases. The joint venture is especially focussed on dengue which is affecting an increasing number of people this season.

This awareness drive is being held on July 25 and 26 at Kadri-Kalai and surrounding areas as a start.

Dr Rajesh, medical officer, district health department; Yatish Baikampady from Karnataka State Management Committee of Indian Red Cross Society; Pooran Attavar, Rotary Club Mangaluru; Gerald DSouza, professor, St Aloysius College; Raghuveer of Nehru Yuva Kendra and Fr Vincent DSouza, designate director of CODP were present on the dais.



The brief inaugural programme commenced with a prayer. Lenet Gonsalves, programme manager of CODP, welcomed the dignitaries and also briefed the gathering about the day’s programme.

Dr Rajesh, the resource person of the programme, gave detailed information on the causes and symptoms of the deadly disease ‘Dengue’. He stressed on points relating to the preventive measures to be taken – both personal and environmental. He concluded his informative talk by encouraging the participants to practice the lessons learnt not only for a day, but during their lifetime. He also hoped that the message reaches to as many people as possible.

Fr Vincent DSouza proposed the vote of thanks, while also acknowledging with gratitude the Rotary Club of Mangaluru for sponsoring breakfast and mid-day meals for the field visit teams on July 25 and 26.

Before the teams dispersed on their house visits, Lenet Gonsalves, who was instrumental in organizing this awareness drive, explained regarding their responsibility while conducting the house visits. She requested the teams to submit their reports and photos which in turn would be forwarded to Mangaluru City Corporation as per their instructions.
