Karwar, Jul 26: Yallapur MLA, Shivaram Hebbar, who revolted against the party and joined a group of dissident legislators who distanced themselves from the Congress, said that he is confident that the assembly speaker will accept his resignation. He said that if the speaker rejects the resignation, he will seek legal advice and take further decision as might suit his interests.
Hebbar, who was staying along with other legislators in a hotel at Mumabi, returned home on Wednesday night. Speaking to media persons on Thursday, he said it would be wrong to refer him and his fellow legislators as disgruntled. "We have the capacity to get work done. But in spite of being legislators from a party that is partner in the coalition government, we had become helpless in getting any work done. When our party leaders came forward to convince us, we did not allow them to do so. In future too will not allow them to influence our decisions. The exercise of appeasing us began with inordinate delay. By then we had covered lot of distance away from the party leaders. Therefore we walked out of the government," he explained.
Hebbar said that their decision will not undergo any change at any cost. "We took decision to resign after thinking about it deeply. I seek apologies from the people of my constituency for this decision. I took this decision to acheive development of my constituency. In the coming days, I will work hard for developing this constituency," he stated.
