Mangaluru, Jul 25: Former Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister and MLA, U T Khader, said that BJP had indulged in a huge scam in buying disgruntled MLAs from other parties. "These rebel legislators will bring out the details of this deal within three months. As per my estimate, the BJP would have spent not less than one thousand crore rupees for purchasing MLAs," he explained.
Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday July 24, Khader said that in a coalition environment, differences of opinions here and there between the parties concerned and within the respective parties, are common. But the BJP, he said, used this situation and offered huge money to these MLAs. "I need not give these details. Wait and watch. These MLAs will reveal these details soon," he stated.
The legislator said that his party believes in democracy and accordingly accepted the defeat. "Likewise, we expect the BJP to come out with details of lures they offered to these legislators. MLA, Srinivas Gowda, has laid bare the offer made to him to change loyalties," he pointed out.
Khader charged the union government of trying to weaken Right to Information Act, which he said would be detrimental to the state. He recollected that because of this act, a number of scams had come into the open. The current changes being made would enable departments to keep their information a secret, he felt.
He said that as urban development and housing minister, he had implemented a number of schemes and had honestly tried to develop this district as the in-charge minister. He said that for the first time, a sum of six crore rupees was sanctioned to handle natural disasters in a single constituency, he stated.
Expressing concern about spread of dengue in the district, he asked people to keep their surroundings clean and spread awareness to control infectious diseases.
