Udupi, Jul 24: A youth who reportedly bought blue tooth online has filed complaint in the cyber, economic offences, and narcotics police station here, about having been cheated to the extent of Rs 87,998.

Anirudh, son of Dinesh Devali from Kunjal in the district had ordered for a blue tooth online on July 14. On July 21, he received a message, asking him to collect the parcel against payment of Rs 17,999. Upon the delivery of the parcel, he found that the speaker he received was made by a company other than the one he had ordered for. When he contacted customer care centre of the company, he was informed that there was a mistake, and that the amount would be refunded to him.

Thereafter, a message sent to the cellphone of Dinesh Devali asked the same to be forwarded to another cellphone number. As soon as Dinesh forwarded it as desired, a total sum of Rs 87,998 was debited to his account through four different transactions without his permission. These money transfers were affected by PayTM online transfers, the complainant stated.
