Udupi: DC Hepsiba Rani Korlapati visits rain-affected areas of district

Udupi, Jul 24: Many areas of the district have got extensive damage and destruction due to the incessant rains that is battering since a week. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hepsiba Rani Korlapati paid a visit to the affected areas on Tuesday, July 23 and conducted spot inspection.

The DC inspected the damage that has occurred to the houses in Hombadi-Mundadi, Gopadi, Kotatattu and Bellampally areas and instructed the concerned officers to release compensation to the victims as soon as possible.

According to the information given by the Indian Meteorological department, red alert is declared in the district till July 24 in the wake of heavy rains. There is a possibility of more than 200 mm of rain during this period. The district administration has taken all the necessary precautionary measures to face any emergency.



All the district and taluk level officers are instructed not to leave their respective centers and also to keep their mobiles on all the time. In addition, the DC has instructed them to visit the affected areas as soon as they get the information and take relief measures.
The DC has also asked people living in low lying areas to be alert and call the control room number 1077, which functions 24 hours of the day from the office of the DC. As a precautionary measure holiday is declared to all the Anganwadi, primary schools, high schools, PUC and degree colleges in the city on July 24.

Sindhu B Roopesh, CEO of zilla panchayat accompanied the DC during her visit to the affected areas.
