Udupi, Jul 23: “Playing in the field and being in touch with the soil make life of people happy. Playing with soil makes people rich whereas fighting with people makes them inhumane,” said Udupi zilla Panchayat member, Janardhan Thonse.
He addressed a gathering at 'Kesardonji Gammatth' organised by Veeramaruthi Vyayama Shaale (R) Keralkalbettu. “Our country is mainly dependant on agriculture, but today many of our youth are diverted to other activities. Youth should come back to the fields and start working.”
Youth of the region enjoyed playing various games like running race, volleyball, tug of war and many other sports which were held for the youngsters and seniors.
Delicious ganji oota with chutney and naati koli were served to the people.
Dr Roshan Kumar Shetty, director youth and empowerment department Prakyath Shetty, Dhananjay Kunder, taluk panchayat member Krishnaiha Shetty, Thenkanidiyoor gram panchayat president Mamata Shetty, Jayanthi, Annaiha Palan, Ashok Kotian, Madhukar and others were present during the programme.
