Panaji, Jun 4: Goa Home Minister Ravi Naik on Thursday said that the state would enact Goa Police Bill in the next assembly session, once the House select committee approves it.
"The bill is referred to select committee of the assembly which has raised certain queries on it. Few members of the assembly wanted certain modifications. The department has studied all the aspects and the select committee is scanning the bill," Naik told reporters here.
The ministry would table the bill after the committee clears it, he added.
SP Bosco George, who accompanied the Home Minister during the informal media briefing, said the committee have sought 18 clarifications and the department is in the process of giving them.
The Home Minister said that the new bill will give more teeth to the state police while handling crucial situations.
"It will not enhance manpower, but the available human resource will be utilised properly," Naik said.
Goa has about 3,000-odd police force.
