Mangaluru, Jul 19: Sandeep Patil, Commissioner of Police of the city has sought the support of school authorities and parents of students to curb the drug menace that has increased by leaps and bounds in the district, especially in the city limits.
In his message to the public, Sandeep Patil said, "Mangaluru police have taken the drug issue as the top priority in the city. We have been raiding and seizing drugs and arresting the drug peddlers. During this drive, it has come to our notice that most youngsters in the age group of 18 to 24, especially students of prestigious colleges in the city are involved."
"In order to completely control the drug menace, police department requires the support of school authorities and parents of the students. It is important for the parents and school aurthorities to know how the drugs look like, so that they can alert the police, if they see the same in the possession of a student," said Sandeep Patil.
The Police commissioner further said, "In the city of Mangaluru the drugs that are mainly used are Cocaine and MDM. These are white powders that look like salt or sugar powder. If they find any student in possession of such white powders, the same should be brought to our notice immediately. With cooperation of all stakeholders, we can control this menace."
