Mangaluru, Jul 16: Environment Day was celebrated at the Father Muller Salvadore Monteiro Rural Health Training Center, Bajpe on July 13. Dr Jessy Maria Dsouza (RMO in-charge of FMSMRHTC) coordinated the event along with Dr Saurabh Kumar (associate professor Community Medicine department) and Salvadore Monteiro. The chief guest for the occasion was Ayisha (member of Bajpe panchayat) and Jayanth Suvarna (President of Bajpe Rotary Club). Guests of honour were Robert Rego, member of Bajpe Rotary club and Raghava Kamath.
As many as 36 saplings were planted around the campus to create awareness about the environment and also on the importance of rain water harvesting. The patients and bystanders along with the FMSMRHTC staffs and interns participated in the plantation drive. Talks were given by the chief guest and guest of honor with the underlying theme of ‘Go Green’.
The Father Muller Salvadore Monteiro Rural Health Center set up on November 1, 2018 at Bajpe, has been catering to the health of the underprivileged around Bajpe and the neighbouring areas. It is an example of the service oriented goal to provide holistic health and compassion to the brethren of the Father Muller Charitable Institutions. With modern amenities and a 50 bedded hospital, this center has been a spring in the desert for many.
