Udupi, Jul 11: Udupi district Indian Christian Union (ICU) is organising Jana Spandana programme with MLC and parliament secretary Ivan D’souza on Saturday, July 13 at 3pm at CSI Boys Boarding Home (Snehalaya).
Addressing a press meet at Udupi Press Club on July 11, Steevan Colaco Udyavar, joint secretary of ICU said, “the Jana Spandana is organised to exchange information on various projects. Various department officials will impart the information. The MLC will accept petitions from the public. This programme will help the poor and deprived classes. They will receive proper guidance on gaining financial assistance from chief minister’s relief fund.”
Those who want to benefit from CM’s relief fund need to bring necessary information and documents such as a passport size photo, BPL card, bank pass book (front page) and Aadhaar card with notary seal. They also need to get hospital bill and discharge summary with seal and signature of the hospital.
"ICU has come into existence in the district of Udupi in order to resolve the issues faced by Christians and also to give information on the facilities that are given by the central and state governments to the Christian community. At present there are nine members in the union," said Steevan.
Jana Spandana programme is organised to create awareness about government schemes and programmes. “Sometimes, the departments fail in giving information on government benefits. This is the reason people fail benefiting from government schemes,” he added.
MLC Ivan agreed to attend Jana Spandana and he will address the problems. Government officials, various department officers, deputy commissioner, AC, tahsildhars and other officials will be present.
Sunil Kabral Shirva, president of ICU, Charles Amlar, secretary, Melvin D'Souza Shirva, vice president, Deon D'Souza Kalmady, public relations officer, Sheela Jatthanna Udupi were present for the press meet.
