Udupi, Jul 9: Adani Group’s UPCL, which is operates a power plant at Yellur village, district, in association with its CSR wing Adani Foundation distributed school kits to 6,500 students studying in nearly 80 government/ government aided schools located in the UPCL plant vicinity.
Distributing education kits comprising of notebooks, geometry box, bag and umbrella, Kishore Alva, president and executive director informed that UPCL after being taken over by Adani Group, Adani Foundation has been distributing quality school kits worth Rs 70 lac every year to government school students for the last five years. "Education kits would be a way to motivate the students and I am happy to note that the students’ strength is being increased in few of the government schools," Alva said.
Alva further said that Adani Foundation plays a vital role in the field of education involving activities like education kits distribution, scholarship distribution to the meritorious students, education help for meritorious students from financially weaker sections, distribution of laptop to students for higher education, development of infrastructure facilities to government schools, construction of toilets for girl students.
In addition to these activities, Adani Foundation is also conducting UDAAN programme, wherein students are given the opportunity to visit UPCL plant and understand the process of power plant operation benefitting their academics.
Adani Foundation has so far motivated more than 1 lakh students under UDAAN programme, Alva told. He further told that Adani CSR is working for the promotion of education to the students in rural areas.
Alva also informed that every year nearly 15% of the total CSR budget is being spent toward education.
