Bantwal, May 26: Addressing a press conference here on Monday May 25, former district youth Congress president Bondala Jagannath Shetty alleged that the Panemangalore Block Congress president has been neglecting him in matters concerning party affairs and that the latter had tried to trap him in the case relating to the absence of a taluk panchayat member during the election process of the local taluk panchayat president and vice president recently. He accused the block Congress president Chandrahas Karkera of trying to tarnish the image of the party as well as himself, by registering a police complaint, unnecessarily dragging Bondala’s name in the case. "I will complain against him to the district Congress committee president," he announced.
It may be recalled that Suneeta Padmanabh, a taluk panchayat member from the Congress Party, had not attended the election process of the taluk panchayat president and vice president, held here on May 19. Later, in a complaint filed with the police on May 21, she had said that she was kept under illegal confinement. In a press conference too on May 21, she had said Bondala had asked her to support the candidature of Putushottam Gatti from the party for the vice-presidentship of the taluk panchayat. She had accused Gatti of inviting her to his home and confining her illegally there, till the election process was completed.
Bondala said, a few persons who have been expelled from the party, who are intolerant about his rise in the party, have conspired to trap him in the said case. "The fact that the above police complaint was filed after three days of the incident makes clear their intentions. The concerned should explain the reason for the delay," he demanded.
