Kundapur, July 8: Activists of pro-Hindu organizations activists expressed anguish alleging that Jehovah’s witnesses are holding prayers in a village and trying to convert people to that religion.

The incident has happened in Indira Nagar, Chitteri cross, Katbelthur near Kundapur. Carmine, younger sister of Flossy and Tina are allegedly threatening Saroja that she will be killed as Saroja has not got herself converted to the religion.

It is stated in the police complaint that Jehovah’s witnesses have asked Saroja to remove the picture of the deity, Tulsi plant, wedding chain and Kumkuma and offered to pay money and items for daily use if Saroja brings more people for conversion.

It is also alleged that religious books were given to children when Saroja was not around. “Nearly twenty people are gathering in the said house and people known to me, including Uma and family members, Shanta Acharya and family members, Ganesh, his wife and son are already converted. My family is mentally harassed and troubled,” stated Saroja in her complaint.

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses in the United States. We respect other people's beliefs. We do try to teach people the bible. This is true. In a world full of such troublesome times, we know there are many people suffering from anguish. The bible speaks of these times as the last days. Describing a accurate picture of what is happening around the world. I hope you will keep patience with my brothers and sisters in your country. Remember, the entire world is going through a time never seen before in history. We just want to give hope to all people. We consider all lives precious as taught by our God Jehovah. Thank you.

I just dont believe this. I know several Jehovah's Witnesses in my friends circle. They dont at all do such things. Certainly somebody is misled to accuse these people in this way.

There cannot be any conversion from one religion to another by force or cheating. Law should take its own course after thorough investigation.

All of these allegations are lies. Jehovah’s Witnesses do NOT force/induce/pay people to convert or take any steps to convert. This is an attempt by a person or the “pro-Hindu group” to start trouble for these people. Once an investigation is made, I would like to see those that have made such false accusations taken to the police for inciting gang violence and hatred of Christians. This mob mentality has no place in a democratic state like India.
