Mangaluru, Jul 8: St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia in association with Udayavani inaugurated rainwater harvest processing at Valencia church premises on Sunday July 7.
Chief guest Ivan D’Souza speaking during the occasion lauded the initiative taken by the church for opting rainwater harvesting. Valencia church is now an example for the entire district and state in the process of rainwater harvesting. He also urged the parishioners to opt for the process at the their houses and make the best use of water.
Parish priest Fr James D’Souza delivered the presidential address.
A 45 min session was conducted by Rajendra Kalbavi project director of Dakshina Kannada Nimirthi Kendra NITK Surthkal. He spoke on the pros and cons of water harvesting.
Resident priest Fr Arun Lobo; asst parish priest, Fr Joswin D’Souza; vice president of parish council Anil Lobo; secretary, Lizzie Pinto; delegates of Udayavani were present. Around 300 parishioners were present at the programme.
