Bengaluru, Jul 6: Former CM Siddaramaiah said that the resignations of MLAs are not accepted. So there is no issue to the coalition government.
Speaking to the reporters in the city, former CM Siddaramaiah said, "I saw the news just now on the TV. When I tried to reach our MLAs, they could not be contacted. Speaker Ramesh Kumar had given a statement to the media saying that his office has received the resignation letters of 11 MLAs. None of the MLAs have sought prior appointment. If they had told beforehand, he would have stayed back in his office. So the speaker is going to discuss about the acceptance of resignations on Tuesday. As the resignations are not accepted, no harm will be done to the coalition government."
To the query of the next move by the scribes, Siddaramaiah said, "Minister D K Shivakumar has taken MLAs Muniratna, Bhairati Basavaraju, S T Somashekhar and Ramalinga Reddy in his car to his residence. He is trying to convince them to take back the resignations. The rest MLAs are not reachable. Coalition government will be intact."
The former CM has called the meeting of Congress party as the string of resignations from MLAs started making the news. The party sources have said that state in-charge K C Venugopal is going to come to Bengaluru.
