Karkala, May 21: Newly-elected Member of Parliament from Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency, D V Sadanand Gowda promised to work for the integrated development of Karkala assembly constituency in the next five years, by working in tandem with the former MLA from local constituency, V Sunil Kumar. He was addressing a meeting organized at the local Sri Rama auditorium by the local unit of the BJP, as part of the Lok Sabha election victory celebration and thanking the voters for their support.
"The defeat of Sunil Kumar in the last assembly election was a temporary setback. The voters of this assembly constituency provided a lead of over 5,000 votes to the BJP against its rival, providing that this remains a BJP bastion. I will try to be present in the office of Sunil Kumar one day in every month, to listen to the grievances of the people and address them," he added.
Former MLA and BJP National Yuva Morcha secretary V Sunil Kumar said, he had promised the party leaders that he would ensure that the BJP gets more votes than the Congress in this constituency. "I have achieved the goal of giving a minimum lead of 5,000 votes from this constituency to the party candidate in the Lok Sabha election, and the party activists have realized my goal. I thank them for working hard to make this happen," he said. Kumar also accused the local MLA of not making any efforts to bring any grants to the constituency in the past 11 months, and of trying to project the achievements of the previous regime as his own.
Home minister Dr V S Acharya, MLCs Capt Ganesh Karnik and Kota Srinivas Poojary, party leaders Jagadish Adhikari, Bola Prabhakar Kamat, M K Vijay Kumar and several other leaders were present at the dais.
Bola Sadashiva Shetty welcomed. Maniraj shetty delivered introductory address. Purushottam Rao presented the programme and proposed vote of thanks.
