Mangalore, May 19: The district policemen have taken into custody Kabir, who has been accused of playing a prominent role in the murders of Mulky Sukhanand Shetty, Polali Anantu and Candle Santhu. Sources said, the policemen of the special intelligence squad of the superintendent of police took Kabir into custody on Sunday May 17.
The gang of killers led by Mulky Rafique alias Kaka had killed Polali Anantu on June 7, 2005. The same gang was allegedly involved with the murder of BJP leader Sukhanand Shetty in December 2006. It may be recalled, that Mulky Rafique had been killed in a police encounter near Udupi railway station, Indrali on January 16, 2007.
The policemen feel that the same gang had killed Candle Santhu. In the meantime, the family members and relatives of Kabir have expressed the apprehension about the failure of the policemen in not producing Kabir in the court even after arrest. They are apprehensive that the policemen might try to eliminate him through fake encounter.
