Udupi, May 19: District crime intelligence bureau (DCIB) inspector B S Srinivasaraj and the support staff, who were on night patrol duty, nabbed Gururaj alias Guru (21), a resident of Manipal Durga Nagar from Indrali bus stand here on the morning of Monday May 18, when he was trying to hide from them. During detailed interrogation, Gururaj reportedly confessed to having been involved with three recent thefts that occurred within the Manipal police station limits. The policemen have recovered a few things he had stolen, from his possession.
On March 9, Guru had entered a factory in Manipal industrial area by cutting the window grills and taking away goods worth Rs 80,000. On April 8, he had taken away a Honda Activa two-wheeler vehicle parked in front of a house in Manipal Anant Nagar, by gaining access to its key by inserting a long stick through the window and picking up the key found inside and had taken a purse that had Rs 8,000 cash in it, by breaking the glss window of a house in Anant Nagar on April 28.
The accused has been handed over to Manipal police station.
